世界規模のコングロマリット（eコマース、小売、インターネット、そしてIT等）であるアリババ・グループ（Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., 時価総額約４９兆円）を僅か20年弱で築きあげた創始者ジャック・マー氏（Jack Ma）氏は数々の名言を残しているが、私が感銘を受けたひとつを紹介（英語が原文で、日本語訳は私個人の見解を多分に含んだ翻訳なのであしからず）：
The worst people to serve are the poor people.
貧しい人と付き合うのは最悪だ。
Give them free, they think it’s a trap.
Tell them it’s a small investment, they’ll say they can’t earn much.
タダにしてあげると、罠だと考える
小さな投資だと言うと、儲けが小さいのでと断る
Tell them to come in big,
they say no money.
大きな投資をすすめると、
お金が無いと言う
Tell them to try new things,
they’ll say no experience.
新しいコトをしてみろと伝えると、
経験がないので、と答える。
Tell them it’s traditional business,
they’ll say hard to do.
昔からある事業だというと、
成果を出すのが（競合が多く）難しいと避ける。
Tell them it’s a new business model,
they’ll say it’s MLM.
新しい事業モデルだと話すと、
MLM（マルチ商法）だと言う。
Tell them to run a shop,
they’ll say no freedom.
店を任せるというと、
自由が無いと文句を言う。
They do have some things in common.
They love to ask Google, listen to friends as hopeless as them.
こういった人には共通点がいくつかある。
Googleで調べるのが好きで、同じく救いようの無い仲間と群がる。
They think more than a university professor,
and do less than a blind man.
大学教授以上に頭でっかちだが、
盲目の人より何も実行しない。
Just ask them what they can do?
They won’t be able to do anything.
何ができるか？と聞くと、
何もできない人だと分かる。
My conclusion,
結局、
Instead of having your heart beat faster,
why not just act a bit faster.
心臓の鼓動を激しく（速く）するのではなく、
行動を早くとるべきだ。
Instead of just thinking about it, why not do something about it.
考えているのではなく、実行するべきだ。
Poor people fail because of one common behavior,
their life is all about waiting.
貧しい人は皆同じ習性が故に常に失敗する
人生待ってばっかりだからだ。
